Creative Director and
Designer, Michael Shead, created the first collection of his eponymous
line of women's apparel in 2005. A St. Louis native and
resident, Michael was fortunate to be chosen to show his collection
at St. Louis Fashion Week the last two seasons, to rave reviews.
A lifestyle brand, created for the chic sophisticate who isn't
afraid to wear bold designs, the Michael Shead Est. 1987 woman is one
who's a conqueror. She's raw, unapologetic, and in charge of
her own destiny. She is inspired by romance, femininity, and is a
free-spirited woman.
Michael's aesthetic stems from the incredible women he's encountered
in his lifetime. The day his beloved grandmother had him watch a documentary of Chado Ralph Rucci, who
spoke of garment instruction and his design philosophy, was the day
Michael's life changed. After being inspired by what he
saw on the screen, Michael immediately created a philosophy of his own:
Believe in yourself and shine on.
Subsequent to that day, he dreamed of fabrics, colors, imagined
sketches, and eventually took fabric to a dress form and molded all
of his dreams into one garment. That day was the day Michael Shead Est. 1987 was born. Today, fashion has
become a reflection of Michael's personality, his dreams, and is his
instrument that allows him to express his story.
